What happened

CG 40 47 has been available since January and is attaching to in-force commercial general liability policies now, Insurance Business reports.

Insurance Business reports that ISO's CG 40 47 01 26 generative AI exclusion, filed by Verisk, has been available for commercial general liability policies since January 2026 and is now on "thousands" of policies in force. The endorsement removes coverage for bodily injury, property damage and personal and advertising injury arising from generative AI. Two companion forms, CG 40 48 and CG 35 08, narrow Coverage B and products/completed operations the same way.

What is verified

The source's own statement, as linked above. Nothing beyond it has been independently checked by us.

What remains unclear

The count is the outlet's word, not a Verisk figure with a denominator. The form text was not read for this item; the description is as summarized. Attachment is optional and carrier by carrier.

What it means for your book

Any commercial book on ISO CGL forms may now carry an uninsured generative AI exposure without the insured knowing it. The endorsement schedule on every renewal is the place to look, and the client conversation is an E&O matter if it is skipped.

  • Pull the endorsement schedule on the next ten CGL renewals and look for CG 40 47, CG 40 48 or CG 35 08
  • Ask the carrier whether the form attaches by default on new business
  • Read Finding 002 for how the ISO definition differs from Berkley's
