Travelers' latest Risk Index found cyber threats remain the top concern among US businesses, with AI cited as a factor. Of 1,202 business insurance decision-makers surveyed, 58% said they were concerned a great deal or some about cyber risk generally, and 55% specifically about a security breach or cyber event involving AI. Travelers named AI-enabled phishing, exploitation of vulnerabilities, and retention of company data for AI training as the specific worries.

What is verified

The source's own statement, as linked above. Nothing beyond it has been independently checked by us.

What remains unclear

Not a measure of actual AI-related breach frequency. The survey does not disclose response rate or margin of error.

What it means for your book

Commercial clients may raise AI-specific cyber questions at renewal. Nothing here changes cyber policy language or adds a new exclusion.

  • Ask commercial cyber prospects whether they use AI tools with client or company data
  • Check current cyber forms for how they treat AI-related data exposure before the next renewal conversation
