AI in insurance, checked dailyMonday 5 October 2026
News and findings on AI in insurance. Every item with its source, its evidence and what it means for a book of business. For agencies, MGAs and carriers

What happened

Coverage-form analysis is the second most common use, at 43% of agencies using AI, and security and privacy rank among the top barriers.

Insurance Journal reports that 46% of agencies said they use AI, compared with 15% in 2024. The most common uses were writing marketing content (49%), analyzing coverage forms (43%) and reviewing contracts (35%). Respondents named two leading barriers: not knowing what AI can actually do, and concerns about security and privacy. The report does not disclose the sample size or who ran the survey.

What is verified

The source's own statement, as linked above. Nothing beyond it has been independently checked by us.

What remains unclear

This is self-reported use and does not measure accuracy or results. It also does not show whether these agencies have a written AI policy or check the AI's output.

What it means for your book

If staff are using AI to compare coverage forms, a missed difference in an exclusion becomes an E&O question, and nobody's answer will be that the AI read it. A shop with no written rule on what client data goes into these tools is carrying a privacy exposure it has not priced.

  • Ask each producer and CSR which AI tools they used this month and what client data went into them
  • Require a person to check any coverage comparison drafted with AI against the actual forms before it reaches a client
