What happened

The Pennsylvania carrier will start with underwriting and claims staff, and may later extend the tool to agent and customer conversations.

Lititz Mutual Insurance Company has selected Guidewire's ProNavigator, a tool that answers questions in plain language using the carrier's own policies, procedures and internal guidance. The carrier says the first use is supporting its underwriting and claims staff, with independent agents also to get access. Future use in agent and customer conversations is described as possible, not planned on a date.

What is verified

The source's own statement, as linked above. Nothing beyond it has been independently checked by us.

What remains unclear

This is a selection announcement, not a live rollout with results. No figure on time saved, accuracy or coverage outcomes was given.

What it means for your book

Agents appointed with Lititz Mutual may soon get underwriting and procedure answers from software rather than a person. An answer from the tool is only as current as the guidance the carrier loads into it.

  • Ask your Lititz Mutual marketing rep when agents get access and which guidelines the tool draws from
  • Keep confirming binding authority and eligibility questions with an underwriter in writing until the carrier says otherwise
